Atlanta (TheNextXbox) – When the original Microsoft Xbox released, it was the first video game console from Microsoft. They were going up against the big guns Sony and Nintendo, who had ruled gaming for well over a decade at that point. Microsoft needed a killer app to compete with the Sony PlayStation 2 and the Nintendo GameCube, and they found that in Halo. Can Bungie strike magic in a bottle twice with Destiny on the successor to the Sony PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360?
Bungie is hard at work on the upcoming next-generation video game Destiny. This is the project name for the major franchise from one of the most popular developers in the world.
The studio that brought us the amazing Halo saga is ready to bring us into an entirely new world on the next-generation Xbox 720 and also potentially the Sony PlayStation 4.
Destiny is said to be published by Activision which makes it very likely that it is going to be seeing a release on both the Sony and Microsoft platforms.
This may not be music to the ears of the Microsoft fanboys out there, but the fact that the studios is working on a new franchise has to please gamers in a big way.
Destiny is said to take place hundreds of years in the distant future when Humanity lives in one city. This is a very interesting plot line to say the least.
Beyond that one city, our galaxy is in ruins. Humans are in a war against an alien force who wants to eradicate humans for good.
The expectation is that Destiny may be a launch game for the Xbox 720 and/or the Sony PlayStation 4.
